DESCRIPTION
Shapes of Shadows. 5rhythms workshop
2-5/9/25 at Osho Afroz meditation center.
5rhythms is a dance practice that explores 5 distinct rhythms that have roots in the physical, emotional and energetic body. Dancing through them again and again to original music each time, will bring about new discoveries in all realms.
In Flowing we connect to our center, finding place for our feet on this earth, feeling deeply into who we are, and what makes us feel safe.
Then in Staccato we can express our intention and passion, declaring what we ask for in this world, hence many times tension will appear.
In Chaos comes an invitation to stay centered while what we feel is confused. When we use the invitation, we can lighten up in Lyrical to find joy and ecstasy along with renewed creativity.
Stillness can bring about healing through the empty space of our own breath.
In this workshop we will work with some of our shadows, namely tension and confusion.
Growing up we all danced. As kids we might have had the freedom to be silly, perform or just play. As we grow up, dance changes and becomes a social event. We dress up to go dance, it MUST be beautiful, charming, sexy, for some it will be rebellious and wild, for some a way to avoid talking. For most of us, dance becomes a performance and fails to be an expression of freedom.
Adulthood brings about many opportunities, choices, decisions and heart breaks. Causing us to face tension and confusion on almost daily basis. Those accumulate in us creating blockages, anxiety, numbness and even sickness. We hide, avoid, pretended, invent excuses, fall into anger or rage easily, we disconnect, … the list can go on and on.
In this workshop we will explore how to be with tension and confusion. We will learn how they look and feel in the body, how to let them go and how to release them. Allowing the freedom of expression to reenter our dance and our life.
We will dance for 4 days, 2-5 of Sep 2025.
Every day 09:30 – 13:30. With a small break.
I have been dancing 5 rhythms for 15 years and teaching 5rhythms for 7 years now. I have led about 15 workshops and hundreds of classes in few countries. I can see tension and confusion held in participants bodies every time I teach, and I can feel it in myself. Through the practice I have learned how to listen to my tension, to hear what my confusion is trying to tell me and found my ways of releasing both, while not losing my center.
