DESCRIPTION

Dancing expands our consciousness. The simple act of moving our bodies to music drops us into the here and now, igniting the soulful essence of who we are and awakening us to the sweaty, visceral fullness of what it is to be alive. That can be a revolutionary experience and it can be a simple, everyday occurrence.

The 5Rhythms practice is a map for navigating these journeys from emerging body awareness into the total presence of ecstatic motion. The ‘formless forms’ of Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness invite us to move with acceptance and expression; through release, into new emergence and wholeness. 

This immersion is the first in our year-long series of journeys for committed dancers who want to study the fundamentals of practice and dance deep with a circle of other deep-divers. Some prior experience of 5Rhythms would be an advantage, but newcomers are welcome. 

Facilitators:

Christian de Sousa has been dancing the 5Rhythms for 20 years and trained with Gabrielle Roth in 2005. Nikki Ashley and Ajay Rajani, both teaching the Rhythms since 2014, will be in support along with a dancingTao team of assistants, artists and production crew.

dancingTao is a collective of dancers, facilitators, artists and other agents of change. We are committed to bringing movement practice into service of individuals, communities and the world field.
