This workshop is for those dancers who regularly move or have moved with pain or illness.
It is not important for this workshop how, when, or why the pain or illness manifests. All are welcome who would like to connect more deeply with these challenging parts of themselves and so create the possibility for transformation and healing by taking them through a 5Rhythms wave. We will also search out new ways to move our bodies without expectation or comparison of moving like 'regular' dancers.
Dancers will be invited to move with all that pain and illness can bring such as inertia, frustration and powerlessness. By exploring the 5Rhythms together in this way we will have the opportunity to alchemise these challenges into new creative ways of being and healing.
Chairs will be provided for the group and we will have a tea break around the midpoint of the session. Support and care workers are also welcome to join the workshop.
Some experience of the 5Rhythms would be helpful though is not essential. If you are not sure whether the workshop is for you please get in touch either by phone or email and we will be happy to have a chat.

Testimonials:
“Deeper Acceptance was a powerful experience for me as it opened up the possibility of including different types of discomfort in my dance.
Pain can manifest in so many different forms from the subtle to the chronic, the visible to the invisible. No matter what it looks or feels like, it all deserves the space to be fully experienced and explored. I was reluctant at first to move with my emotional pain, I wondered if it wasn’t ‘enough’ for this kind of workshop and that there must be others with far more serious and ‘worthy’ conditions than mine. I soon realised that whether our discomfort is physical, mental or emotional there’s a place for all of it - it all has an energy, a movement and a shape. And it all needs to be accepted and held without expectation or judgment. With Rich’s compassionate facilitation and being with other dancers who were experiencing and expressing their own discomforts, I was able to surrender to a deeper place than ever before. I was able to be more honest about how I felt. The space gave me full permission to embody my emotions, my tiredness, my heaviness, my sadness past and present without judgment, and this was very healing for me. Eventually a path of transformation emerged towards a more joyful, lyrical and lighter state of being.
Rich teaches from a place of authenticity, firsthand experience and deep understanding which allows others to open up.”

“Rich combines the core 5Rhythm practice with a heavy dose of the reality and acceptance for those of us with pain or illness. He recognises that we are also dancers, that we want to participate, to belong and have limitations. By working with those limitations, a new freedom in movement is achieved, and this is a gift for everyone, whether they are compromised or not. It was a breakthrough for me at his workshop and I saw the impact it had on the other dancers. Relevant and essential. Highly recommended.”

“deeper acceptance workshop was healing, gentle and deep. I have a chronic condition and often have fatigue. The workshop really helped me to trust and care more for my body, be aware and accept my resistances, see my internal fights and frustrations, giving me tools to manage my fatigue in the dance and also in my day to day life. Richard was very respectful, caring and corageous. The workshop has been an important step in my healing journey. I really recommend this workshop to connect with different parts of yourself and to be more friend and caring of your body and mind.”
