Our hearts have a billion landscapes. Tangled forests and deep caverns of fear. Smouldering peat fires and exploding volcanoes of anger. Churning oceans and steady streams of sadness. Blissful skyscapes and gentle breezes of joy. The list is as infinite as our own possibility. All are Heartscapes of love.
The 5Rhythms Heartbeat maps are a profound and simple way to explore the emotions. We move with them and allow them to move through us. When we dance them, landscapes that once seemed daunting can become lifelong friends and teachers.
We can choose to stay on the tourist bus and passively pass through the scenery or we can get off the bus and dance it. There’s no right or wrong in this; it is a choice. But the emotions don’t go away when we decide to look out of the other window. They are an essential part of being human. Hiding from them, suppressing them, throwing them into the long grass, leaves us only part of ourselves. It can even harm us and those around us.
We don’t need pith helmets or a team of sherpas to go exploring. This body is already perfectly equipped. We will find treasures. A fluid heart, deeper connection with others and the world around us a deeper knowing of ourselves as part of the wider dance. It is a beautiful, ecstatic and profoundly healing journey . . . And you won’t find it at Thomas Cook!
