We’re all looking for something - something more, something better, something different.. Some of us even work quite hard to make it happen. We read books, go to workshops, practise. And yet.. despite our best efforts and our good intentions, some part of us stubbornly remains the same. Why?
Maybe because, consciously or unconsciously, some part of us wants things to stay the same. And, like an inner saboteur, it works against our aspirations to keep things familiar and reassuringly uncomfortable. Its stock in trade are the excuses we tell ourselves and other people.
“I can’t…” “I have to…”
This weekend we’ll let the dance of the 5 Rhythms support us as we take a long, steady look at our excuses. With kindness and a sense of humour, we’ll explore the stories we tell ourselves, and gently ask if they’re true. Moving through this landscape, with relaxed awareness, we’ll see if we can allow some space to open up around these old beliefs. And as they lose some of their hold in us, we’ll find instead more freedom to live as we truly desire.
