The5Rhythms Heartbeat map offers an embodied path to practice emotional awareness and intelligence through the movement language of our own bones, breath and muscles. The five main emotional areas we investigate are fear, anger, sadness, joy and compassion.
The core of this dance practice is to cultivate curiosity and compassion for ourselves in the unfolding of our discovery into these emotional landscapes. We practice fluidity with our feelings without getting caught up or identified with them.
Here are some inquiries and areas of practice and explorations during this weekend together: How do we listen, honor and trust the guidance of our emotional intelligence?
How do we self regulate the volume of those expressions from subtle tenderness like noticing and containing all the way to big and bold when needed. How can we bring attention, acceptance, courage and creativity to the areas where we might hide, hold or get stuck?
When we allow ourselves the practice of moving with and through any emotional nuances and variations of being human, we will learn how to act instead of react. To stay centered in turbulence and vulnerability. To find a sense of presence and authenticity in relating to ourselves and others. To feel the gifts and support of any emotion and that they all guide us in the same direction, to awareness, truth and love.
