Art Waves
Waves
DESCRIPTION
The 5Rhythms movement meditation practice is a series of maps that helps align your body, heart, mind and spirit. We move through five energies or beat: Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness. We dance with ourselves, with a partner and with the group.
Art Waves will use the energies of the 5Rhythms to investigate the impact of visual stimuli and how it can inspire our lives. By exploring the Rubin Museum of Art's exhibit, Flip Side, we'll compare how both the visible and invisible sides of Tibetan scroll paintings (thangkas), sculptures and flash cards mirrors the flip side of our bodies, hearts and minds. (Image below was taken at the Rubin Museum's exhibit.)
The class is open to everyone, regardless of age, shape, size, dancing experience or knowledge of (or interest in!) art; walk-ins welcomed.
