About LOVING INQUIRY
Created through Ahava Shira’s PhD in Art-Based Education, at the heart of Loving Inquiry is the commitment to cultivating a kind and accepting attention toward ourselves and others, helping us to free our unique expression and embrace our connections with the worlds inside and around us. An invitation to listen, play, have fun, make mistakes and encounter our wild imaginations, whether we are putting our pens to the page, feet on the floor, scissors to the magazine (and images into new forms) or sharing our voices aloud, as we engage in the nourishing and restorative process of enchantment we make and keep making meanings that honour diversity, complexity and imperfection. Through this curious, care-full process, we become comfortable with the beautiful messiness of our creations, and our lives.
Ahava Shira, PhD is a writer, poet, spoken word performer, dancer, collage artist and facilitator/ mentor who has been fostering authentic creative expression for diverse populations in the Pacific Northwest for 25 years. Creator of Loving Inquiry, an arts-based contemplative practice, Ahava is the author of a book of poetry, a spoken word CD and co-author of Writing Alone Together. She lives on Salt Spring Island with her beloved husband and the community of earth and human beings.
