In December 2008, I heard about a local dance with “no alcohol, no drugs and bare feet”. Intrigued, I called the organiser. Would it be OK if my only recent dance experience was as an embarrassing uncle at a wedding? She replied “That’s perfect, you’ll love it!

I never realized dancing in a room together with other people was something I was taking for granted. Looking back, it’s screamingly ironic that the upheaval 5Rhythms practice predicted rhythmically in the dance was an upheaval that no one, teacher nor producer nor student, was actually prepared for logistically.

Growing up with Gabrielle, making music stood equally in our circle alongside making movement. When no song was long enough to deeply journey into the meditation, Gabrielle and Robert gathered musicians to create soundscapes to go deep into the rhythms, birthing Raven Recording, a new genre of music, and 20+ albums.
