In this afternoon exploration we enter the playground of dance and allow writing to emerge from the whole body.
When we put pen to paper after we have danced the body deeply and completely, we have the potential to tap into the creative flow underneath thought processes and the often-prohibitive inner dialogue. In the dance, as well as in the writing, we give ourselves permission to be fun and messy and terrible and set aside the voice of the self-saboteur that usually keeps us stuck or silent. We attune to guidance and let the wild, the imaginative and the unpredictable take center stage.
This workshop is not about teaching how to write well. Rather it is a place for unleashing creativity and feeling how it is to write from our center, deep within the body. When we add our words to the world from that place, true intimacy emerges.
The dance will follow the fascinating map of the 5Rhythms and the body as an inspiration and a resource. The writing is simply an invitation and an extension of this exploration. It can take many and all forms - poetry, prose, doodling, free - styling, journaling, inner process self-discovery. You don’t need to be a dancer or a writer to participate, just bring your curiosity, love for movement, bare feet and a writing pad.
