I guess it all started with ice-skating in my youth. Though the idea was to play ice hockey with the other kids, it became obvious (later) that I was completely in love with the Flow of the movement on the surface of the ice.
Parallel to that breakdancing (on a piece of cardboard on the neighborhood sidewalks in Germany where I grew up) became my introduction to Staccato!
Formal dance schooling followed during the awkward teenage rollercoaster until I found my beat on the dance floor in our local underground disco to the tunes of English counterculture music.
This heavy bass infused music helped me to ground my feet to the floor, giving me a sense of belonging to some undefined tribe of dancers. It was a way to exist in the hip culture of the 80s.
Fastforward through the techno revolution of the 90s from the Berlin bunker rave scene to the all nighters in the Indian Himalayas where my Chaos got ignited...
I found myself moving to wave offerings from Gabrielle Roth’s students in Northern California where I had started a family.
By the turn of the millennium I was pretty familiar with this completely different way of approaching movement, ecstasy, connection and dance in general…but it wasn’t until 2017 when I got formally introduced to the 5Rhythms. It’s been a love journey ever since...
