Sweat Your Prayers®: A New Monthly Movement Meditation with Sayrah Garrison
When: Every 3rd Saturday of the month
January 18, February 15, March 15, April 26 (instead of 19th), May 17, June 21
Sweat Your Prayers is a minimally facilitated movement practice through the 5Rhythms®: Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness. This is an opportunity to step into your 5Rhythms practice with intention and in a fully embodied way. It allows us to bring our deepest prayers to life through conscious movement, while being in community with others. Similar to our weekly Waves practice, a Sweat has 2 distinct waves of music with a brief pause in between Waves to introduce a theme for the rest of our journey together.
Created by Gabrielle Roth, the 5Rhythms is a dynamic movement practice rooted in the principle that if you put the psyche in motion it will heal itself. Through the map of the 5Rhythms, we will take a deep dive into our own inner landscape to discover our authentic selves. The only requirement is that you have a curious mind and a desire to explore creativity, connection and community.
“To sweat is to pray, to make an offering of your innermost self. Sweat is holy water, prayer beads, pearls of liquid that release your past. Sweat is an ancient and universal form of self healing, whether done in the gym, the sauna, or the sweat lodge. I do it on the dance floor. The more you dance, the more you sweat. The more you sweat, the more you pray. The more you pray, the closer you come to ecstasy.” ~ Gabrielle Roth, from her book Sweat Your Prayers
